The 20 Golden Rules

The 20 Golden Rules of Investment dengan interpretasinya

Investing your own money is a complicated and potentially dangerous business.
One slip in the tricky world of stocks and shares can prove very costly.
So Times Money offers a guide on how to survive and profit in the investment jungle.

1) Buy low; sell high. (beli harga obral)

2) Don't chase performance. If you like a stock or fund, buy on the dips.

3) Run your winners. In other words let your profts roll up and
don't be in too much of a hurry to kiss goodbye to your best-performing investments.
( jangan sampai terlalu cepat melakukan ciuman perpisahan kepada saham-saham pemenang)

4) Cut your losses before they become excessive.
(meskipun maksudnya berinvestasi, jangan sampai kerugian dibiarkan berlarut-larut.
Adam Khoo investor kondang Singapura membatasinya sampai 20%)

5) Never get too attached to a share or a fund. As the late Sir John Harvey Jones once said:
"You sometimes have to kill your favourite children."

6) In general, think long-term. As Warren Buffett,
the great US investor once said:
"Never buy a stock unless you would be happy with it if the stock exchange
closed down for the next 10 years."

7) But don't let that stop you reviewing your portfolio regularly.
You need to check that your portfolio is properly balanced. (monitor dengan baik)

8) Reinvest your dividends.
The power of compounding your reinvested share or fund dividends
makes a massive difference to your overall return.
(coba hitung jika dividen yang diperoleh diinvestasikan kembali
dengan hitungan bunga berbunga dengan persentase tertentu)

9) Don't put all your eggs in one basket.
If you had had all your money in tech stocks in March 2000
you would probably have had about 90 per cent of the value of your portfolio
wiped out over the next couple of years. (jangan menaruh telur di satu keranjang)

10) Although it makes sense to hold shares for the long term you don't necessarily
want to hold them forever. In the end shares are for buying and selling not for
buying and forgetting about.
(jangan mentang-mentang melakukan investasi lalu nggak pernah menjualnya meskipun harganya turun)

11) To that end make sure you spend as much time thinking about
selling shares as you do about buying them. Most investors neglect this vital discipline.
(jangan lupa memikirkan kapan waktunya menjual.

12) Make sensible use of tax-privileged investment vehicles
such as pensions and Individual Savings Accounts (Isas)
but never let the tax tail wag the investment dog.

13) If you don't understand how a particular investment works it's
probably not a good idea to put money into it.
(jangan berinvestasi jika nggak ngerti ilmunya)

14) Don't be afraid to ask the `what if' question.
In the late 1990s many investors bought supposedly `low risk' savings products
linked to the performance of the stock market. Few asked what would happen if
the stock market fell off a cliff, as it did from 2000 onwards,
slashing the value of the so-called `precipice bonds'.
(malu bertanya sesat dijalan)

15) Be flexible and don't back yourself into a corner.
If you bought a stock for 500p and it's now languising at 50p,
don't stubbornly hold on to it indefinitely in the misguided belief that
it's bound to recover to 500p - it may never do so.

16) Don't be afraid to go against the crowd -
some of the most successful investors have been contrarian investors.

17) Never be influenced by `special offers' such as the discounts
sometimes advertised by fund groups for purchasing funds within a specific time.
It's much better to buy the right fund than to get a few pounds
knocked off the purchase price of the wrong fund. ( jangan jadi korba iklan)

18) Ignore all stock market `tips',
whether offered in the workplace or at the nineteenth hole
of the local golf course. Remember the old stock market
adage that "where there's a tip there's a tap".
(Percaya kepada diri sendiri – termasuk jangan percaya kepada tips nya ER)

19) Never get too carried away by investment euphoria,
whether for stocks and shares or bricks and mortar - nothing goes up for ever.
(merurut saya kalimat ini berbicara tentang siklus)

20) Remember that if something looks too good to be true - it probably is.
(memang demikian lah adanya. Yang bagus itu mesti selalu dibilang bagus)

[junior_Trader] ER - Ulasan pagi 26 Nopember 2008. Mengapa mereka tidak nyangkut?

Selamat pagi.

Aturan Buffet (Great Investor). Aturan pertama, jangan rugi. Aturan kedua, lihat aturan pertama. Bagaimana dia mengikuti aturan tersebut? Buffet membeli perusahaan istimewa pada waktu harganya super murah. Harga murah relatif menurut kriteria masing-masing.

Aturan Soros (Great Speculator). Aturan pertama, jangan rugi. Aturan kedua, kalau sampai rugi buatlah kerugian sekecil-kecilnya. Terjemahan populernya "cut your loss as soon as possible and let your profit run". Kapan belinya.

Lalu mengapa kita menjadi NYANGKUTERS?

  • Pertama.

Teliti sebelum membeli. Jnagan mau ikutin kayanya tetapi tidak mengikuti usahanya.

The Law of Investing - investigate before you invest.

The Law of Investing - investigate before you invest.

By Brian Tracy

The Law of Investing - investigate before you invest. This is one of the most important of all the laws of money. You should spend at least as much time studying a particular investment as you do earning the money to put into that particular investment.

Check Every Detail

Never let yourself be rushed into parting with money. You have worked too hard to earn it and taken too long to accumulate it. Investigate every aspect of the investment well before you make any commitment. Ask for full and complete disclosure of every detail. Demand honest, accurate and adequate information on any investment of any kind. If you have any doubt or misgivings at all, you will probably be better off keeping your money in the bank or in a money market investment account than you would be speculating or taking the risk of losing it.

Money is Easy to Lose

The first corollary of the Law of Investing is: "The only thing easy about money is losing it." It is hard to make money in a competitive market but losing it is one of the easiest things you can ever do. A Japanese proverb says, "Making money is like digging with a nail, while losing money is like pouring water on the sand."

The Best Rule of All

The second corollary of this law comes from the self-made billionaire, Marvin Davis, who was asked about his rules for making money in an interview in Forbes Magazine.

He said that he has one simple rule and it is, "Don't lose money." He said that if there is a possibility that you will lose your money, don't part with it in the first place. This principal is so important that you should write it down and put it where you can see it. Read it and reread it over and over.

Time Equals Money

Think of your money as if it were a piece of your life. You have to exchange a certain number of hours, weeks and even years of your time in order to generate a certain amount of money for savings or investment. That time is irreplaceable. It is a part of your precious life that is gone forever. If all you do is hold on to the money, rather than losing it, that alone can assure that you achieve financial security. Don't lose money.

Be Smart About Investing

The third corollary of the Law of Investing says: "If you think you can afford to lose a little, you're going to end up losing a lot."

There is something about the attitude of a person who feels that he has enough money that he can afford to risk losing a little. You remember the old saying, "A fool and his money are soon parted." There's another saying, "When a man with experience meets a man with money, the man with the money is going to end up with the experience and the man with the experience is going to end up with the money." Always ask yourself what would happen if you lost one hundred percent of your money in a prospective investment. Could you handle that? If you could not, don't make the investment in the first place.

Action Exercises

Here are two things you can do to apply this law immediately:

First, think back over the various financial mistakes you have made in your life. What did they have in common? What can you learn from them? Accurate diagnosis is half the cure.

Second, invest only in things that you fully understand and believe in. Take investment advice only from people who are financially successful from taking their own advice. Play it safe. It's better to hold onto your money rather than to take a chance of losing it, along with all the time it took you to earn it.

Third, have a plan. Start with gaining the right knowledge, then apply realistic investment goals to attain that fit your style and risk tolerance, then create a low-risk high-reward investing trading plan of price entry, take-profit stop-loss, then take action on those elements. Following a systematic approach to investing in the financial markets will provide more and better successful results.

Misteri Tanggal 8/8/08

Sally Faubion, seorang numerolog profesional di San Fransisco, AS, memiliki pandangan berbeda.

Anda percaya?
